Home Efficiency Rebate Program
Enbridge Gas and Canada’s Greener Homes Grant Partnership
The Home Efficiency Rebate Program is made possible through a partnership between Enbridge Gas and Canada’s Greener Homes Grant. Together, they offer generous rebates for eligible retrofits, including home insulation, windows and doors, heat pumps, and renewable energy systems.
Introducing the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus Program
Building on this partnership, the newly launched and co-ordinated Home Efficiency Rebate Plus Program further helps Ontarians save energy at home while reducing their environmental impact.
Benefits for Ontario Residents
This program is especially exciting because it provides significant savings opportunities for homeowners across the province.
Enhanced Rebates for Enbridge Gas Customers
Homeowners who use natural gas from Enbridge Gas to heat their homes can enjoy enhanced rebates of up to $10,000 through the Home Efficiency Rebate Program.
Promoting Energy-Efficient Upgrades
By participating, more households can afford energy-efficient upgrades that reduce energy use and contribute to a greener future.
How to Access Rebates Through the Home Efficiency Rebate Program

Already Enrolled in a Rebate Program?
Continue Benefiting from Savings
If you are already enrolled in the Home Efficiency Rebate Program or Canada’s Greener Homes Grant, follow the outlined steps to maximize your savings.
Maximize Your Rebates
By participating fully, you can make the most of the rebates offered and enhance your home’s energy efficiency.
How the program works
Step 1
Call and Schedule an Initial Home Energy Assessment To begin, call and schedule an initial home energy assessment with a licensed Registered Energy Advisor. Once you complete the questionnaire or visit the HER+ webpage, a list of Registered Energy Advisors will be provided to you. This will help you find an advisor in your area to get started on your energy-efficient retrofits.
Step 2
They'll provide a custom report with recommended upgrades. Additionally, this report will offer tailored suggestions to improve your home's energy efficiency, helping you prioritize the most effective retrofits.
Step 3
Complete at least one eligible upgrade. Once you've received your custom report, then you can proceed with implementing the recommended upgrades to improve your home's energy efficiency.
Step 4
Schedule a follow-up home energy assessment. After completing the eligible upgrade, you will need to arrange for a follow-up assessment to verify the improvements and ensure everything is up to standard.
Step 5
Receive your rebate cheque, including up to $600 for the assessments. Once the follow-up home energy assessment is completed, you will then be eligible to receive your rebate cheque, covering the cost of the assessments and any applicable upgrades.
More Ontarians Now Qualify
Canada Greener Homes Grant Funding Across the Country
Grant funding through the Canada Greener Homes Grant is available to all eligible Canadians, offering a wide range of opportunities to make homes more energy-efficient. In addition, this initiative supports homeowners in reducing their carbon footprint and lowering energy costs.
Co-Delivery of Programs in Ontario through HER+
Moreover, in Ontario, the co-delivery of this program with HER+ enhances the benefits for homeowners. This collaboration ensures that homeowners in the province can access both programs with a single, simplified application process.
Streamlined Application Process for Homeowners
As a result, this streamlined application process makes it easier for eligible homeowners to take advantage of the combined benefits, saving time and effort in accessing funding and services.
Benefits for All Home Heating Fuel Types
Consequently, regardless of the type of home heating fuel, homeowners can now access the combined advantages of both programs. This ensures widespread support for energy-efficient upgrades, regardless of the fuel type used in the home
Type of homes that will qualify:
Bestway Gas customers

Bestway Gas customers, with tenants (landlord-owned)
Homes that are space heated with Enbridge Gas natural gas but are not the owners primary residence.
Non-Bestway Gas customers

Multi-residential buildings
Owners in some low-rise and mixed-use properties are eligible for rebates. See details.
Eligibility Restrictions for the Program
Exclusions Based on Heating and Residency
To begin with, homes that are not space-heated by Enbridge Gas, and where the owner is not the primary resident (e.g., rental units), are excluded from the program.
Ineligibility for Multi-Unit and Large Buildings
Additionally, multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs) with more than three storeys or those larger than 600 m² are ineligible for participation.
Age of the Home
Furthermore, homes built less than six months ago are not eligible for the program, as the upgrades are intended for established homes.
Restrictions for Mixed-Use Buildings
In addition, mixed-use buildings where less than 50% of the space is dedicated to residential living do not qualify for the program.
Previous Participation in Other Programs
Moreover, homes that have already participated in the Home Efficiency Rebate Plus (HER+) or Canada Greener Homes Grant (CGHG) programs and have maxed out their incentives—$10,000 for Enbridge space-heated customers and $5,000 for non-Enbridge customers—are disqualified from further benefits.
Upgrades Before Assessment
Lastly, homes that have already started upgrades before conducting their pre-retrofit energy assessment are also not eligible for the program.
In Summary
In conclusion, these restrictions ensure that the program targets homes that genuinely meet the outlined criteria, thereby optimizing resources and assistance for eligible participants. As a result, only homes that fulfill the requirements will benefit from the program’s incentives.
